Next reading: Soda Series!! November 9.

I am thrilled and a little bit nervous to be reading at the next Soda series event, at Soda Bar in Brooklyn, on November 9. There will be a short reading by four writers (John Haskell, Kirsten Kaschock, Roberta Allen and me), followed by a conversation moderated by hosts Greg Gerke and John Dermot Woods. I’m currently reading John Haskell’s collection of stories, I Am Not Jackson Pollock, and it’s given me goosebumps more than once. Please try to catch this reading if you can!

New class sections for November at 3rd Ward!

Weee! The first class at 3rd Ward was so much fun, they’re bringing me back to teach it again. The Learn to Love Your Artist Statement class has been designed exclusively for visual artists who aren’t comfortable writing about their work–but find they need to do so anyway. Time to get this year’s applications ready for NYFA’s artist fellowships, right? (They’re due in December!) Register by November 2 to reserve space in the workshop, which takes place on two Tuesdays, November 8 and 15, 7:30 to 9:30 PM.

Bushwick: Give me your books…

I’m a member of writers collective 1441, we’re planning a very cool book-swap event for November 5 at Pine Box Rock Shop. Come talk to us and drink with us and bring us your books. You can take home some of ours, too.

All the info is here.

Reading @ Bodega, October 2, 2011

The writing collective I am a member of, called 1441, will be reading at The Bodega‘s first-Sunday storytelling series in Bushwick on October 2, 2011. There will also be other readers, too. I’m reading something old, and something new. Other people will, too. Unlike my usual stuff, I’m reading poetry. Come!
